EmPower+ Program Eligibility

Many people throughout the Capital Region qualify for this program. If you can answer “yes” to the following, you may be eligible:

Do you live in a home or a building with 100 or fewer units?
Are you a customer of a participating energy provider?
Do you meet the eligibility requirements for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)?

EmPower+ 2025 Income Requirements

Household of one: $39,864 or less per year
Household of two: $52,140 or less per year
Household of three: $64,404 or less per year
Household of four: $76,680 or less per year
Household of five: $88,944 or less per year
Household of six: $101,208 or less per year
Household of seven: $103,512 or less per year
Household of eight: $105,816 or less per year

Is it really free?

It may sound too good to be true, but there’s no catch.
EmPower+ provides many energy services, including upgrades and replacements, at zero cost to qualifying customers.
Over the past 10 years, Standard has helped thousands of households have received these upgrades, with many saving more than $10,000 by not spending a single penny.

What if I don’t qualify?

An estimated 30,000 people in the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region do qualify. If you’re already getting HEAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or another form of public assistance, you likely qualify for EmPower assistance.
Qualification is determined by the last four weeks of income. Even if you do not qualify for the above programs, you may still be eligible for savings even if you are a seasonal employee recently laid off.
